J&K: 4 policemen killed, 2 seriously injured in bomb blast by terrorists in Sopore, JeM claims responsibility
SOPORE: 4 policemen on patrol responsibility have been killed and two others have been severely injured in an improvised explosive system (IED) blast by terrorists in Sopore in Baramulla. Terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed duty for the assault.
The blast passed off on Saturday morning in the principle market space of Sopore when the IED planted by terrorists went off. The IED was positioned close to a store in a lane between the ‘Chotta Bazaar’ and ‘Bada Bazaar’ in Sopore in Baramulla district.

The police car ran over the improvised explosive system triggering the blast. The realm has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway.
The injured have been moved to a close-by hospital. The policemen belonged to the third Battalion of Indian Reserve Police (IRP).
Taking to Twitter, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti stated: “Pained to listen to that 4 policemen have been killed in an IED explosion in Sopore. My deepest condolences to their households.”

Heavy deployment of safety forces was already in place to take care of regulation and order state of affairs within the wake of separatist-called protest shutdown in Sopore. Separatists underneath the banner of Joint Resistance Management — which includes of Yasin Malik, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Syed Ali Shah Geelani — had referred to as for a shut down in Sopore city of north Kashmir on January 6.
